A portfolio of large watercolour paintings fills the stairwell of Atelier. A decade ago I was able to meet with all ten and a bunch more, of these champion curlers as I attended events across the country, collecting lots of photos for reference. Standing in the arenas and clubs I felt the rocks and the ❄ not a curler I was in awe. I watched each champ in person and then on film. I learned how they throw, how they react, and participate, with their team mates, peer's and their fans. I look for their Character and I try to capture that and is what I then name their painting.

Along the way I visited the Granite Curling Club in Winnipeg, which for me is one of the finest architectural beauty's with an amazing history. I was asked if I could try to capture it’s historical elements and the building. To celebrate it’s 100th Anniversary, the large original hangs in the club, “Chisholm’s Vision”.

Studio work is a Triptych of three Champions, Rachel Homan, Niklas Edin, Brad Jacobs

Large 300lb 22 x 30 watercolour papers are stretched and drawn. Backgrounds, ice and rings layers being built. Now I build the layers for the stones, clothes and brooms. The eyes are my biggest focus as I create each of their paintings. I will be adding here as I spend time on them while I watch the season.

PS I broke my wrist this summer and it has been a long process of casts and patience but I am ready to work at easel once again.
